ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team wrapped up its season-opening weekend on Sunday with a 10-3 win at home over Rogers State University.
The Tigers (2-1) went into double-digits in the run and hit categories for the first time this season, crossing the plate 10 times on 13 hits.
Four Tigers had multi-hit games, led by
Michael Quinones with a 4-for-5, three RBI performance.
Wyatt Core went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
CW Schrader went 2-for-2 with two walks.
Jaxon Chaney went 2-for-4, including a two-run homerun that put his team up 6-3 in the sixth inning.
Starting pitcher
Hayden Childers (1-0) earned the win for the Tigers, lasting five and one-third innings giving up just two runs on three hits. He threw up five straight zeros before allowing the Hillcats (1-1) to score in the sixth.
Relievers
Cade Crossland and
Bryce Smith combined to allow just two Hillcat baserunner in the final three and one-third innings. Crossland threw two and one-third innings, giving up just one walk and one hit batter, while striking out four. Smith retired the RSU side in order in the ninth.
The Tigers continue their nine-game homestand next Thursday-Sunday, February 9-12 with games against four different teams at Rab Rodgers Field.
