BOLIVAR, Missouri – The ninth-ranked Ouachita Baptist University men's tennis team picked up its second win of the season over Southwest Baptist University on Sunday, this time by a 4-2 decision.
In the first meeting of the season, Ouachita beat SBU 5-2 on February 4 in Arkadelphia. This time around, both teams found themselves ranked in the top 15 of NCAA Division II. Ouachita (5-4) jumped up to No. 9 in this week's rankings, while SBU (6-7) moved up to No. 12.
The Tigers started Sunday's match taking the doubles point with wins first and third positions, highlighted by
Phil Exner and
Alex Blanchar's win over the 16th-ranked doubles duo in the nation.
In singles, the Tigers earned wins in first, second, and fifth positions, including wins over ranked opponents in the first two spots.
Ouachita is back at home briefly for a home match against Emporia State on Tuesday before heading back on the road for three matches during Spring Break.
