MONTICELLO, Arkansas – Arkansas-Monticello flipped the script and shutout the Ouachita Baptist University baseball team on Monday by a final score of 13-0 in seven innings. The Tigers won both games of Sunday's doubleheader, including a 3-0 shutout in game two, to win the series two games to one.
The Weevils (11-6, 6-3 GAC) doubled their combined run production from Sunday's games in just the first inning of Monday's series finale, taking a 6-0 lead on four hits, three of which went for extra bases. UAM kept its offensive pace in the second inning, pushing four more across to take a 10-0 lead before Ouachita could even bat through its lineup once.
The Tigers (10-6, 5-4 GAC) kept the Weevils scoreless for the next two innings before giving up two more in the fifth and one in the sixth to finalize the scoring. UAM's Mason Philley tossed a complete game shutout, giving up just four Tiger hits with 10 strikeouts and only two walks.
After a stretch of seven straight road games, Ouachita is set to return to Rab Rodgers Field this upcoming weekend to host Arkansas Tech in a three-game GAC series.
