JONESBORO, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University men's and women's track and field teams set 25 personal bests in a good weekend at the Red Wolves Open meet hosted by Arkansas State University.
This week's meet featured a mix of programs, ranging from Division I to NAIA. Other Great American Conference members were in attendance and the Tigers consistently fighting for top spots among them.
The Tigers had one event winner;
Dylan Dew won the men's 800M with a time of 1:52.90, winning by almost two seconds. Dew also placed fifth in the men's 1500M with a time of 3:53.50, behind only Division I runners.
Top Tigers this weekend were:
Karis Martin placed fourth in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.43 meters (17 feet, 9.75 inches) and was just 1.25 inches away from tying her program record. Martin was second among Division II jumpers in the event.
Macie Cash took fourth place in the women's 1500M with a time of 4:43.09 but placed ahead of all other GAC runners in the event.
Kate Nachtigal finished fifth in the women's 1500M with a time of 4:43.57, less than half a second out of fourth.
The women's 4x100 Relay squad of
Karis Martin,
Alexis Perry,
Reyna Rogers and
Rebekah Wendt placed fifth in the event with a time of 51.71.
Xander Naegle took third place in the men's 800M with a time of 1:55.03, just 0.23 seconds out of second place.
Marcus McGahee earned fourth place in the men's 100M with a time of 11.11 seconds, just 0.33 seconds out of first.
The women's 4x400 Relay squad of
Alexis Perry,
Ashley Dillman,
Jaci McGregor and
Rebekah Wendt took second place in the event with a time of 4:08.28.
The men's 4x400 Relay squad of
Marcus McGahee,
Xander Naegle,
Caden Callahan and
Dylan Dew finished second in the event with a time of 3:36.79.
This meet closes out a successful regular season for Ouachita, as the Tigers will now be gearing up and getting ready for the Great American Conference Championship meet, which is set to begin Thursday, May 4 in Searcy, Arkansas.
