DEW CROWNED GAC CHAMPION, TIGERS WRAP UP SEASON AT CONFERENCE

SEARCY, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University men's and women's track and field teams finished up their seasons at the 2023 Great American Conference Championships Saturday evening in Searcy, with one Tiger earning a GAC Championship.
 
The Tigers had one individual conference champion:
 
Dylan Dew won both the men's 800m (1:54.71) and the 1500m (1:54.71) races to be crowned the GAC Champion for those events. Dew is Ouachita's first men's GAC Champion.
 
The Tigers ran a total of 34 personal bests at the conference meet, 22 set by the women and 12 set by the men. Five program records were also broken by the women over the three days of the meet.

 
The five record breakers were:
 
Kate Nachtigal broke the 3000m Steeplechase record with a time of 11:08.08, earning Nachtigal a second-place finish in the event.
 
Rebekah Wendt set the record for the women's 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:06.42.
 
Ashley Dillman broke the women's 400m record with a time of 1:00.73.
 
Layne White set the record in the women's Heptathlon with a score of 3481.
 
The women's 4x400m Relay squad of Rebekah Wendt, Ashley Dillman, Jaci McGregor and Ashlyn Hecht set a new record in the event with a time of 4:03.41.

 
Other Top Performing Tigers were:
 
Taylor Koeth placed fourth in the women's 10,000m with a time of 38:20.28.
 
The men's 4x400m Relay squad of Xander Neagle, Marcus MaGahee, Keegan Pointer and Dylan Dew earned fourth in the event with a time of 3:24.25.
 
Jaylen Becho placed fifth in the men's 300m Steeplechase with a time of 9:41.69.
 
The men's 4x100m Relay team of Marcus McGahee, Xander Neagle, Zach Lane and Caden Callahan finished fifth in the event with a time of 44.71.
 
Jaci McGregor took fifth in the women's 800m with a time of 2:20.44, less than two seconds out of fourth.
 
Caden Callahan earned fifth in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 55.44. Callahan was just .003 seconds out of fourth.
 
Mackenzie Davis placed fifth in the women's 5000m with a time of 18:46.12, less than two seconds out of fourth.
 
 
The men's team placed fifth overall out of the six competing programs with a score of 52 points.
 
The women's team placed sixth overall out of 10 teams with a score of 43 points.
 
Both teams wrap up a successful 2023 season, with program records broken at nearly every meet, and the men producing a conference champion in their first official NCAA season.
