BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Ouachita women's indoor track team saw good success, with multiple top 10 finishes, a race win and a new school record at the Samford Invitational in Alabama on Saturday.
 
Macie Cash won the 3000m race with a new school record time of 10:16.93, winning the race by a margin of nearly 15 seconds. Cash's new record beats the previous one set last season by Mackenzie Davis by 12 seconds. Two other Tigers also placed in the top 10 for the 3000m, Allison Hylkema finished sixth (10:50.73) and Megan Monk placed seventh (10:55.37).
 
Becca Beard took third place in the 5000m race with a personal best time of 18:45.66, four seconds out of second place. The 5000m also saw two other top 10 finishes as Sara Holman take fifth place (19:35.19) and Emily Payne place seventh (19:59.09).
 
Elise Knight placed fourth in the 1-Mile race with a personal best time of 5:11.65. Izzi Breaux finished seventh in the mile with a time of 5:15.40.
 
Brenlee Leonard took fourth in shot put with a distance of 11.76m (38 feet, seven inches), finishing behind only Division I athletes from Alabama-Birmingham and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
 
Anna Woolsey posted two top 10 finishes, taking sixth in the 200m (25.47) and ninth in the 400m (58.61).
 
Zoe Carter placed sixth in the 800m with a time of 2:23.99 and Jaci McGregor was right behind, finishing seventh with a time of 2:24.43.
 
Belle Lindsey placed 10^th in the high jump with a height of 1.50m (4 feet, 11 inches)
 
The 4x400m Relay Squad of Woolsey, Laynie White, Carter, and McGregor placed fourth in the event with a time of 4:10.78.
 
It was a successful weekend in Birmingham for the Tigers, tallying multiple top 10 finishes and beating Division I and II athletes in the process.
 
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, January 27 as they head to compete in the Wendy's/Pitt State Invitational in Pittsburg, Kansas.
