DALLAS, Texas – The Ouachita women's cross country team posted a fifth-place team finish on Saturday at the DBU Old Glory Gallop.
Ouachita tallied 164 points to take fifth place overall out of 46 teams. The Tigers placed third out of competing Division II teams and first among Great American Conference members. Division I Rice took first with 31 points, followed by (RV) Cal Poly in second with 102 points. No. 22 Dallas Baptist placed third with 130 points and DI Texas State took fourth with 140 points.
Izzi Breaux was the top runner for the Tigers, placing 25th out of 420 runners in the 5k with a time of 18:09.2. This was the third time this season that Breaux has been the first Tiger across the finish line.
In total, five Tigers posted top 55 finishes. After Breaux,
Mackenzie Davis placed 29th with a time of 18:11.0.
Allison Hylkema was next, finishing 34th (18:15.8), followed by
Macie Cash in 40th (18:23.8), and
Katelynn Nachtigal in 55th (18:35.4).
As for the GAC members, Arkansas Tech placed one spot behind Ouachita in sixth with 218 points, with East Central taking seventh with 230 points. Oklahoma Baptist took tenth (251), Southeastern Oklahoma State placed 13th (353), Southern Arkansas finished 19th (687), Southwestern Oklahoma placed 38th (1,114), and Arkansas-Monticello finished 45th (1,424).
The Tigers will be back in action at home next Friday, October 11 with the 2024 Tiger Invitational. The first race is set to start at 4 p.m.
