ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita baseball team played its first midweek game of the 2024 season on Tuesday resulting in an 11-6 loss at home to Delta State.
The Statesmen (10-5) took an early lead with three runs in the top of the first inning. The Tigers (6-7) were held scoreless in the first three innings before adding solo runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings on a bases loaded walk from
Collin Liles in the fourth and a sacrifice fly by
Wesley Scott in the fifth.
DSU took a commanding lead with crooked numbers in in the fifth and sixth innings, including a five-run sixth that left the Statesmen with an 11-2 lead. Ouachita answered with a crooked number in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI double by
Isaac Nowell, a bases-loaded hit by pitch from
Logan Bell, and a two-run single from Liles.

Tallon Heine, Scott, and Liles all had two hits in the contest for the Tigers. The Statesmen were led by Dylan Coleman, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, and Brett Burell, who went 3-for-4.
Ouachita is back in action this weekend at home in a three-game Great American Conference series against Arkansas-Monticello including a single game on Friday, March 1 at 2 p.m. and a double header on Saturday starting at noon.
