ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita softball team dropped its final game of the McGhee-Hawkins Invitational 13-0 to the Lions on Missouri Southern State Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers got off to a slow start, as MSSU struck first with a run in the first.
Erin Williams hit a single in the bottom of the first but was left on the bases. The Lions put together a six-run second inning to take a 7-0 lead after two. A five-run third inning put MSSU up 12-0. Ouachita put a couple of runners on base in the fourth but could not bring them home. Missouri Southern added a final run in the fifth to lead 13-0. The Tigers had one baserunner in the fifth but that was all. Ouachita fell 13-0 in five innings.
Erin Williams had one of two hits for the Tigers, going 1-for-1 with a walk.
Remington Adams had the second hit, going 1-for-2.
Tuesday Melton started in the circle, pitching 1.2 innings with one earned run and earned the loss.
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, February 8 taking on the Lady Statesmen of Delta State University in a double header at Langston Field in Arkadelphia.
