JOPLIN, Missouri – The Ouachita baseball team opened its weekend series at No. 23 Missouri Southern with a 15-1 loss to Lions on Friday.
The Lions put up crooked numbers in four different innings, including six in the bottom of the third inning to go up 9-1.
Ouachita's lone run came on a solo homerun from
Isaac Nowell in the top of the third, his first of the season and 11th of his career. It was Ouachita's only hit of the game as Missouri Southern's Cole Gayman threw a complete game, struck out nine Tigers and only gave up two walks.
Due to the forecast, games two and three of the series will be played as a double-header featuring two nine-inning games on Saturday starting at noon.
