ARKADELPHIA – Less than 24 hours after knocking off No. 7 Southern Arkansas 13-6, the Ouachita baseball team kept the offensive momentum going in a 14-3 win over Texas A&M-Texarkana on Wednesday at home.
The Tigers (12-10) put up crooked numbers in each of the first five innings in route to reaching double-digits in the runs and hits columns for the second-straight day.
Ouachita matched Tuesday's night's season-high hit total of 16 against the Eagles (10-13) on Wednesday and matched its season-high of 14 runs first scored in a conference win over Southwestern Oklahoma State on February 23.
Wednesday's win wasn't all about offense, though, as sophomore pitcher
Weston Bailey earned his first collegiate win in dominating fashion. Bailey allowed just one Eagle baserunner on a hit in the second inning, but that runner was retired in the next at bat on a ground ball double play. Bailey faced the minimum through the first four innings, striking out two and walking none.
Offensively, the Tigers were led by
Michael Quinones,
Collin Liles, and
Joseph Bolin, all of whom had three hits and three runs driven in.
Wesley Scott added two hits and two RBI.
Cade Burris hit his third homerun of the week, this time a two-run shot to left center in the fourth inning.
All nine Tiger starters had at least one hit in the win.
The Tigers are back in action this weekend at home in a three-game Great American Conference series against East Central. The series has been pushed back a day due to the forecast and will now be played as a doubleheader on Saturday, March 16 starting at noon and a single game on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
