TIGERS TAKE TWO FROM UAM, EARN SERIES WIN

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita baseball team earned its second straight Great American Conference series win with a pair of victories over Arkansas-Monticello at home on Saturday, taking game one of the double-header 10-2 and then getting a complete-game shutout from Luke House in the series finale in a 1-0 win.

The Tigers (8-8, 5-4 GAC) only used three pitchers in the double-header sweep with Chase Oberle (2-3) going 7.1 innings of game one, relieved by Cameron Marchant, who kept the Weevils (9-7, 7-2 GAC) scoreless in the final five outs. Luke House (2-1) and UAM's Maxim Mrakovcic both tossed complete games in the last contest, which lasted just one hour and 13 minutes.

Oberle gave up just two runs on five hits with nine strikeouts and only one walk in his win. House only allowed four hits allowed to go along with eight strikeouts and no free passes to earn his second career complete game and his first career shutout.

The offense in game one with two runs in each of the second, fourth, and fifth innings, and four runs in the seventh. Wesley Scott went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Dustin Bermudez went 2-for-4, both doubles. Joseph Bolin went 2-for-2 and reached base in all four plate appearances with a walk and a hit-by-pitch.

In the series finale, the lone run came across in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI double Wesley Scott to score Kieran Theriot, who singled to lead off the inning and moved into scoring position on sacrifice bunt from Isaac Nowell. With that double, Scott extended his team-best hitting streak to eight consecutive games, and he now has six games with at least two hits.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, March 5 at home in a non-conference matchup with cross-street rival Henderson State. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
