TIGERS ROLL TO SECOND STRAIGHT SWEEP

DURANT, Oklahoma – The Ouachita baseball team secured its second consecutive Great American Conference series sweep and fourth overall series win with a pair of road victories over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday by scores of 12-2 and 11-3.

The Tiger offense continued its hot streak with the team's ninth and 10th consecutive games with double-digit hits. The scoring totals marked the eighth and ninth games overall this season with double-digits in the runs column.

In addition to Ouachita's offensive surge, the Tiger pitching staff stayed consistent with quality outings from its starters. Saturday's game one starter, Chase Oberle, dominated through the first 6.2 innings with no runs allowed on five hits with 11 strikeouts and only one walk. Luke House, the starter in the series finale, gave up three runs in the first inning, but then settled to face only one batter over the minimum in the next four innings. House finished with three runs allowed on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in the first six innings.

In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, the Tigers scored 12 runs off 13 hits. Dustin Bermudez and Cade Burris each had three hits in the win. Joseph Bolin had two hits, highlighted by a two-run homerun, his third of the season. G. Allen and Tallon Heine also homered in the game. Heine's was a two-run shot. Allen's was a solo homerun. Heine and Bolin each ended up with three runs driven in.

Michael Quinones was the star of the series finale with three homeruns in the game, two coming in Ouachita's eight-run second inning. It was the first time a Tiger player hit three homeruns in a game since Destan Mackonnen hit three in a win at home over Fort Hays State on February 23, 2008. Quinones was 4-for-5 with five RBI.

Allen also homered in the finale, a three-run shot in the second-inning rally. It was his team-high seventh homerun of the season.

Overall in the finale, the Tigers matched a season-high with 16 hits. Quinones led the team with four hits, followed by Burris and Heine with three each.

The Tigers, now 19-11 overall and 12-6 in GAC games, head to Monticello on Tuesday, March 26 for a non-conference doubleheader against UAM starting at 1 p.m.
