ARKADELPHIA – Southern Arkansas completed a three-game sweep over Ouachita with a 6-3 win on Saturday in a game that needed an extra inning to determine a victor.
The Muleriders (22-11, 15-6 GAC) scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to break a tie that was created in the seventh inning.
After both teams were held scoreless in the first three innings, the Tigers (20-15, 12-9 GAC) spotted the Muleriders two runs in the fourth inning on a pair of errors.
Ouachita took advantage of an extra at bat in the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead on a three-run home run from
Wesley Scott, his sixth of the season. The Muleriders started the inning with an error, resulting in all three runs being recorded as unearned.
The first earned run of the game came in the top of the seventh when SAU's Chris Lyles led off the inning with a home run to tie the game at 3-3.
The Tigers were held to four hits the game. SAU was limited to five. Ouachita pitchers
Chase Oberle,
Cameron Marchant, and
Dustin Bermudez combined to strike out 11 Mulerider batters.
Ouachita is back in action next weekend on the road in a three-game GAC series against Harding.
