SEARCY, Arkansas -- The Ouachita baseball team opened its weekend series on the road against Harding on Friday night with a 3-2 loss to the Bisons.
Both starters went deep into Friday night's game. Ouachita's 
Cooper Timmons went into the eighth inning and finished with just two runs allowed on five hits with eight strikeouts and just one walk. Harding's Maddox Long last the first seven innings and gave up two runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts and two walks allowed. Combined between the two teams, there were a total of 23 strikeouts.
The Bisons scored first with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Ouachita equalized the score with two runs of its own in sixth inning going station-to-station. 
Michael Quinones and 
Tallon Heine each had RBI singles in the inning.
Harding scratched one across one in the eighth to regain the lead and held off the Tigers in the bottom half of the inning to earn the win.
Both teams had seven hits in the game. 
Tallon Heine led the Tigers with three hits.
Games two and three of the series will be played on Saturday as a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
