RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – The Ouachita baseball team opened its weekend series on the road against Arkansas Tech with a 2-0 loss to the Wonder Boys on Saturday night.
Both teams had good starts from their respective pitchers with Ouachita's
Cooper Timmons allowing just one earned run on two hits with seven strikeouts in the first seven innings. Arkansas Tech's John Gray kept the Tigers scoreless on three hits in the first five innings before giving way to two other Wonder Boy pitchers that combined for the shutout.
The Tigers outhit the Wonder Boys 8-2 in the game and ended up leaving 10 runners on base. The Tigers reached scoring position in each of the first two innings, but came up empty before being retired in order in the next three innings. The Tigers send the potential tying runner to the plate in the sixth, seventh, and ninth innings, but again were held scoreless by the Tech pitchers in all three circumstances.

Collin Liles, and Issac Nowell all had two hits in the loss.
Wesley Scott singled in the seventh inning to extend his team-high hitting streak to 10 straight games.
The Wonder Boys scored their two runs early, plating the first in the bottom of the second on a Ouachita error, and the second coming by way of hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded in the third inning.
Games two and three of the series will be played on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
