MAGNOLIA, Arkansas – The Ouachita men's track and field team put together a sixth-place finish at the 2024 Great American Conference Championships over the past few days.
 
Ouachita tallied 50 points at the championship meet, finishing ahead of Southern Nazarene by 10 points and falling just shy of fifth place by three points in just their second season of competing.
 
One Tiger finished in the Top Three to earn First Team All-GAC Honors:
 
Caden Callahan placed second in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.73, missing first place by just 0.002 seconds. Callahan also placed fifth in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 58.20.
 
14 Tigers finished in places four through eight to earn spots on the All-GAC Second Team:

• Dylan Dew finished fifth in the 800m with a time of 1:55.80.
• Whit Lawrence placed fifth in the 10,000m with a time of 32:12.15. Lawrence also finished eighth in the 5000m with a time of 15:20.86.
• Dhakivion Seals took fifth in the 400m with a time of 49.14.
• Gabriel Greenwich placed sixth in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:40.27.
• Russell Hensley took seventh in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 50.57m (165' 11")
• Ethan Kailey finished seventh in the 1500m with a time of 3:59.37.
• Zach Lanes placed seventh in the Triple Jump with a distance of 12.50m (41' 0")
• Cade Swindle placed seventh in the 10,000m with a time of 32:53.50.
• Jameson Flatt placed eighth in the 800m with a time of 1:57.62.
• Michael Ryman finished eighth in the Decathlon with a score of 4753 points.
• Tate Stacks took eighth in the 10,000m with a time of 33:02.63.
• Josh Tibbs finished eighth in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:43.50.
• The 4x100m Relay Team of Callahan, Marcus McGahee, Seals, and Miller Goff placed fourth with a time of 42.82.
• The 4x400m Relay Squad of Seals, Cole Shipp, Xander Naegle, and McGahee placed fourth with a time of 3:21.59.

 
In total, the Tigers recorded 17 top eight finishes at this year's GAC Championships in just their second year of competition. The future is bright for track & field at Ouachita.
