BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Ouachita women's indoor track & field team posted two event wins and two program records at the Samford University Open & Multi this weekend.
There were no team scores kept at the meet, but the Tigers fared well against top competition from Division I schools like Alabama, Mississippi State, Samford, South Alabama, Jackson State, Grambling State, and Troy, and Division II programs in Mississippi College, Montevallo, Alabama-Huntsville, UT-Tyler, Harding, and Christian Brothers.
As mentioned previously, the Tigers recorded two event wins and broke two school records. Ouachita also tallied a total of 10 top 10 finishes at the meet.
Allison Hylkema won the 5000m by 11 seconds with a new personal best time of 18:17.10.
Izzi Breaux took first in the 3000m by almost five seconds with a time of 10:19.75
Elise Knight broke the school record in the Mile with a time of 5:07.47, placing third and breaking the previous record set last year by Breaux by almost two seconds.
Alysha Colburn and Charley Stallings tied to set the school record in the Pole Vault with a height of 2.81m (9' 2.5") and posted a top 20 finish in the event.
Mackenzie Davis placed second in the 5000m with a time of 18:28.44.
Brenlee Leonard took third in the Shot Put with a distance of 12.25m (40' 2.25") and was first among DII throwers.
Belle Lindsey placed third in the Pentathlon with a score of 3212 points, placing first out of the DII athletes. Lindsey also placed eighth in the High Jump with a height of 1.50m (4' 11")
Anna Woolsey finished sixth in the 200m with a time of 25.29, 0.69 seconds out of first place and second among of the DII runners.
Jaci McGregor placed seventh in the 800m with a time of 2:22.64.
Addi Durand finished eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:24.27.
Macie Cash placed eighth in the 3000m with a time of 10:45.24.
Rachel Dunn took ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.75m (35' 3.25").
Katelynn Nachtigal finished tenth in the 3000m with a time of 11:02.97.
The 4x400m Relay squad of Woolsey, Lindsey, Laynie White, and Durand placed fourth in the event, first among DII teams, with a time of 4:03.60.
The Tigers will be back in action at the Pitt State Invitational on Saturday, February 1 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
