RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Ouachita women's track & field runner Allison Hylkema has been named the Great American Conference Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Samford Open this past weekend.
 
Hylkema posted a win in the 5000m at the meet hosted by Samford University. The Jackson, Tennessee native won the event by an 11-second margin with a new personal record time of 18:17.10, the second-fastest time in the GAC so far this season.
 
Hylkema was one of several Tigers that showed out this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama as Ouachita totaled two event wins, two new school records, and 10 top 10 finishes at the meet comprised of Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA programs.
 
The Tigers will be back in action at the Pitt State Invitational on Saturday, February 1 at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.
