NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – The Ouachita men's and women's cross country teams have earned All-Academic honors from the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their work in the classroom.
Both the women's and the men's team earned All-Academic Team honors with the USTFCCCA. The women ranked sixth in all of Division II with a team GPA of 3.834. The men's team ranked 23rd in DII with a team GPA of 3.512. Both the men's and women's teams were the highest ranked team among those honored from the Great American Conference.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
Five individual women's runners,
Macie Cash,
Mackenzie Davis,
Allison Hylkema,
Jaci McGregor, and
Katelynn Nachtigal each earned individual All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA. With five All-Academic honorees, Ouachita posted the most of any team in the GAC. Davis is now a four-time All-Academic selection, Cash and McGregor are three-time selections, and Hylkema is now a two-time honoree.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
This is the third season in a row for both teams to be honored as All-Academic.
