SAN ANGELO, Texas – After a hot start, the Ouachita softball fell 5-3 to the Griffons of Missouri Western State University on Sunday to close out the 2025 George & Ola McCorkle Challenge.
Ouachita hit the ground running in the Sunday matchup against Missouri Western State.
Baylee King got things started for the Tigers in the top of the first with a one-out single.
Remington Adams followed it up with her first home run of the year, this one a two-run shot to left that put the Tigers out in front 2-0. However, Ouachita still had some gas in the tank.
Emily Reed doubled and was brought home on an RBI single from
Karley Burrow to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead after the first frame.
The Tigers held the Griffons scoreless through two and looked to have momentum on their side, but Missouri Western tied things up with a three-run third inning. MWSU took the lead after plating two runs in the fifth. Missouri Western held onto their lead and the Tigers fell by the final score of 5-3.
Five Tigers recorded hits in the loss.
Remington Adams went 1-for-2 with two RBI, a home run, and a walk. Adams' home run was just the second homer hit through the nine games played in San Angelo over the weekend.
The Tigers will look to bounce back this weekend when they host Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a three-game series beginning Friday, February 14 at 4 p.m. in Arkadelphia.
