WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma – Southwestern Oklahoma State used an eight-run first inning to win Saturday's rubber match against Ouachita by a final score of 15-5.
The Tigers struck first with two runs in the top of the first on an RBI triple from
Wesley Scott followed by a sac fly from
Garrett Graham.
SWOSU responded with eight runs on eight hits in the bottom of the first to hold a comfortable lead early. The Bulldogs added to their lead with single runs in the second and third innings to lead 10-2 heading into the fourth.
Ouachita came through with three runs in the top of the sixth inning on another sac fly from Graham and a two-run single by
Jaxson Jester. SWOSU responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 12-5.
The Bulldogs rallied for three more in the bottom of the seventh to enforce the 10-run rule.
SWOSU outhit Ouachita 18-7.
Isaac Nowell led the Tigers with a 2-for-4 game. Scott was 1-for-1 with three walks.
The Tigers begin an eight-game home stand to end the regular season this Tuesday, April 15 in a non-conference game against Arkansas-Monticello. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
