NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Ouachita women's track & field team set five school records and posted a NCAA Provisional time at the Carl Kight Invitational at Stephen F. Austin University over the weekend.
No team scores were kept, but the Tigers competed well against competition from Division I, Division II, and NAIA. In total, Ouachita compiled 10 top five finishes over the course of the three-day meet.
The Records:
The 4x400m Relay Squad of
Joey Babel,
Anna Woolsey, Angie Rojas, and
Laynie White won the event by almost three seconds with an NCAA Provisional and program record time of 3:47.81.
Brenlee Leonard broke her own school record in the Shot Put with a distance of 12.98m (42' 7") to place fifth in the event.
Jaci McGregor posted a school record time of 4:37.09 in the 1500m to place fifth and break the previous school record by 0.72 seconds.
Charley Stallings set a new Pole Vault record with a height of 3.25m (10' 8") and took third place in the event.
The 4x100m Relay squad of Gray, Woolsey, Babel, and Rojas placed third and set a new program record with a time of 47.27.
Top Finishers:
Three Tigers placed in the top eight of the 400m Dash. Woolsey placed second with a time of 56.29, followed by Babel (56.54) in fourth, and Rojas (58.06) in seventh.
Belle Lindsey placed fourth overall, first among DII athletes, in the Heptathlon with a score of 4520 points.
Kaylee Heffington finished fifth (32.00m) in the Javelin Throw, followed by
Rylee Gray in sixth with a distance of 31.26m.
Adrienna Gray placed fifth in the 100m Hurdles finals with a time of 14.91.
A total of 30 Tigers hit personal best marks at the Texas meet.
Next up, the Tigers will split up. One group will make the trip out to Azusa, California to take part in the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific on April 16-19, and another group will head to Magnolia, Arkansas to compete in the Dan Veach Invitational hosted by Southern Arkansas University on April 18-19.
