NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – Recent Ouachita graduates
Katelynn Nachtigal and
Elise Knight have been selected to the USTFCCCA All-Region team for the 2026 track & field season.
Both are selected for their respective performances in the 3000-meter steeplechase. The top five in the region in each event make the all-region team.
This is the second straight season for Nachtigal to earn all-region honors in the steeplechase. The recent graduate from Rogers, Arkansas is a two-time Great American Conference champion in the steeple and finished second this year. She is seeded No. 16 at next week's NCAA Division II National Championships. She has also been one of Ouachita's top cross country runners during her career and is this year's GAC champion in the outdoor track 5,000 meters.
Knight is earning her first all-region honor to go along with numerous honors and awards accumulated throughout her senior season in both cross country and track. The Jonesboro, Arkansas native made the All-GAC First Team this year in the steeplechase with a third place finish and is seeded No. 20 in the event at next week's nationals. She is a multi-year all-conference performer in both cross country and track and is also Ouachita's top female scholar athlete this year. She recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in biophysics and professional chemistry with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The NCAA Division II women's steeplechase prelims will be held next Thursday, May 21 at 7:10 p.m. in Emporia, Kansas. The finals are scheduled for Friday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m.
