EXNER HONORED AGAIN BY MIAA/GAC

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - For the third time this season and sixth overall of his career, Ouachita's Phil Exner has been selected as the MIAA/GAC South Division Athlete of the Week.

Exner, who held on to his No. 1 national ranking in singles this week, earned a clinching victory in singles for the Tigers in their 4-3 road victory over then 16th-ranked Harding in the only match of the past week.

His singles win came on court one over Harding's Cas de Ruiter, who was ranked No. 10 nationally at the time. Final scores were 6-3, 6-7,  and 6-2 in favor of the senior from Konstanz, Germany.

Exner is now 32-5 overall in singles this season, including a 16-3 mark at No. 1 this spring. He is joined by teammate Ramon Strassmann in this week's ITA national rankings. In doubles, the pair is No. 6 nationally this week with an overall record of 31-7 and a 15-5 mark this spring at No. 1. The duo has been in the top 10 all season. Strassmann is ranked No. 66 nationally in singles.

Exner, Strassmann, and the rest of the Tigers are back in the ITA national rankings as a team after beating Harding to clinch the MIAA/GAC South Division championship. Ouachita checks in at No. 45 this week.
