ALVA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita softball team earned its fourth series win of the season after a 2-0 victory over the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State University in the game-three rubber match on Friday.
The Friday rubber match was a pitchers' duel from start to finish. Ouachita and Northwestern Oklahoma State were both held of the scoreboard for the first three innings, with just four combined hits between the two teams. It wasn't until the fourth inning that Ouachita broke up the scoreless tie.
The Tiger offense found a spark in the top of the fourth inning.
Remington Adams led off the inning with a double.
Karley Burrow worked a one-out walk to put two runners on the basepaths.
Katelyn Provence followed with a single to put Tigers on all three bases.
Baylee King came through for the second day in a row, this time with a two-RBI single up the middle, scoring Adams and
Olivia See and putting Ouachita on top 2-0.
Ouachita's defense, led by
Catie Amador in the circle, continued to keep the Rangers at bay. Over the final four innings, Amador and the Tigers held NWOSU to just one hit to claim the 2-0 shutout victory in game three and secure a 2-1 series win over the Rangers.
Adams led the offense as the only Tiger to record multiple hits in the pitchers' duel. In total, five Tigers recorded hits in the win. King led the team in RBI with two.
Amador earned her 13
th win in the circle after pitching her second straight complete game. In 7.0 innings of work, the freshman from Burleson, Texas faced just three batters over the minimum, giving up only three hits, while striking out six batters and walking zero on just 69 total pitches.
Today's win marks Ouachita's fourth Great American Conference series win and 10
th overall GAC win of the season, the most series wins and conference wins an in a season since 2022.
The Tigers will look to keep up the success as they head into the final weekend of the regular season. Ouachita will be taking on the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State in a three-game GAC series set to start on Friday, April 25 at 1 p.m. in Durant.
