ENID, Oklahoma – The Ouachita baseball team opened postseason play on Thursday with an 11-1 loss to Harding in the first game of the Great American Conference Championship Tournament at the David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
Even with the Bisons scoring one in the first and two in the second, the first four innings featured a pitcher's duel between Ouachita's
Chase Oberle and Harding's Maddox Long, who were both selected to the All-GAC First Team on Wednesday.
The Bisons eventually got to Oberle in the fifth inning with a six-run rally to go up 9-0. HU added two more in the sixth to go up 11-0. Ouachita scored its lone run in the top of the seventh on a bases-loaded groundout.
Austin Gathright went 2-for-3 to account for a third of Ouachita's six hits in the game.
The Tigers are now set for an elimination game on Friday at 9:30 a.m. against either Arkansas Tech or Southeastern Oklahoma State.
