LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Ouachita softball second basemen
Baylee King has been named one of the top defensive players in the nation, earning a 2025 NCAA Division II Rawlings Gold Glove Award presented by the NFCA.
King is the first player in program history to earn a Rawlings Gold Glove Award from the NFCA since the award was expanded to include Division II in 2023. King is one of the two players from the Great American Conference to ever win the award, as Southern Arkansas' catcher also earned a spot as a 2025 winner.
The sophomore is one of just nine players in all of Division II to earn the prestigious Gold Glove Award, with King earning the honor for the second base position. The Commerce, Oklahoma native posted 207 defensive chances with just one error in 52 games this season for a .995 fielding percentage. At the end of the Tigers' season, King ranked second in the GAC in fielding percentage among those with at least 50 chances and ranked eighth in the conference in assists with 98. King earned Second Team All-GAC honors for her performances this season.
Recipients of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, presented by the NFCA, were selected by the NFCA's NCAA Division II All-America Committee, following regional voting to identify the finalists at each position. The group utilized fielding statistics and school-submitted video to closely examine finalists and select the winners at every defensive position. Any student-athlete that competed in the current championship year and was nominated by their head coach who is a member in good standing with the NFCA was eligible for consideration for this prestigious accolade.
