TYLER, Texas – Moritz Buss and
Guillaume Randoux were the top performers for the Ouachita men's tennis team in this weekend's fall opener at the UT-Tyler Invitational.
Buss won singles flight three, while Randoux won flight five. Both went 3-0. As a team, the Tigers combined for 18 match victories throughout the weekend.
Buss started with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Southern Arkansas' Andreas San Gabriel in the first round, followed that up with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win over UT-Tyler's Jordi Garcia in the semis, and then made quick work of Tyler Junior College's Ties De Regt in the finals by scores of 6-1 and 6-4.
Randoux's road through flight five started with a hard-fought win over UT-Tyler's Job Japelj in the opener by final scores of 7-6 (10-8), and 7-6 (7-4). In the semis, he beat SAU's William Von Pongracz 6-4 and 6-1. In the finals, he took down UT-Tyler's Manuel Lassacher 6-3 and 6-4.
Other Tiger singles results included
Ramon Strassmann going 2-1 in flight one,
Elias Lagger going 2-1 in flight two,
Yarin Aebi going 1-2 in flight two,
Aaron Osmond going 2-1 in flight four, and
Tinus Mueller going 1-2 in flight five.
In doubles, Osmond and Mueller had to best outing, going 3-0 to win flight three, including wins over duos from Mississippi College, SAU, and Tyler Junior College.
Aebi and Strassmann went 1-2 in flight one in doubles. Lagger and Buss went 0-2.
The Tigers are back in Texas next weekend for the Marty Berryman Invitational hosted by Collin College.
