DURANT, Oklahoma – The Ouachita baseball team came up short in its first Great American Conference game of the year, losing to Southeastern Oklahoma State 7-4 on Thursday in the series opener against the Savage Storm.
Southeastern (3-3, 1-0 GAC) jumped out to a quick lead with three straight hits to start the bottom of the first inning and ended up getting two runs in the frame.
Ouachita (4-1, 0-1 GAC) clawed back with one run in the third on a sac fly from
Reece McWilliams. The Tigers took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth on an RBI double by
Joseph Bolin and an RBI single from
Connor Hill.
The Savage Storm came back with four run-producing extra base hits to score one in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth.
The Tigers could only muster one more run the rest of the way on RBI single by McWilliams in the seventh.
Games two and three of the series will be played as a double header on Friday startig at noon in Durant.
