ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita baseball team earned a 9-3 victory over No. 23 Harding on Tuesday at home in the Tigers' first midweek game of the season.
The Bisons (6-2) took an early lead with a single run in the first and then went up 3-0 in the third on a two-run home run from Cooper Newsom.
Ouachita (6-2) exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third inning, all with two outs, using walks and singles to move runners station to station.
Garrett Graham,
Cade Bowman,
Connor Hill, and
Raygan Yager all had run producing at bats in the rally.
The Tigers cushioned their lead with two more runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles from
Joseph Bolin and Bowman.
Jaren Ceasar finalized the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.
Ouachita totaled 13 hits in the win for the team's third double-digit performance of the season.
On the mound,
Kyndall Cassidy shined in an extended relief appearance, keeping the Bisons scoreless on just two hits in 4.1 innings of work. Freshman
Jarrett Waggoner (2-0) earned the win as the pitcher of record when the Tigers took the lead in the third inning.
Andrew Hayden finished off the Bisons, getting the final five outs and giving up just one hit.
The Tigers are back in action this weekend at home in a three-game Great American Conference series against East Central.
