ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita baseball team put the finishing touches on a 4-0 week with a double header sweep over East Central at home on Saturday.
Final scores on Saturday were 9-6 and 7-2. The wins followed a 6-2 win over ECU on Friday in game one of the Great American Conference series and a 9-3 midweek win over Harding this past Tuesday.
The Tigers improve to 9-2 overall and 4-2 in GAC games. ECU heads back to Ada at 4-8 overall and 3-3 in the GAC.
In the first game on Saturday, Ouachita racked up double digits in the hit column for the fifth time this season.
David Bull and
Joseph Bolin both went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one home run.
Cade Bowman also went deep in the win.
On the mound in the first game of the day,
Reece Tarini (1-0) earned his first Ouachita win by allowing just three runs on seven hits in the first five innings.
Austin Bagnall held the lead for the Tigers in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.
Andrew Hayden came on in the ninth and finished off the orange Tigers to earn his second save of the season.
In the finale, Ouachita starting pitcher
Braden Tucker (3-0) kept ECU off the board in the first four innings before finally allowing an unearned run in the fifth. Relievers
Lucas Mercado and
Andrew Hayden combined to allow just one run off four hits in the final three innings.
Offensively in game three,
Jaren Ceasar led the way at 3-for-4, including a two-run single in the second inning.
The purple Tigers put the series away on a three-run home run from
Reece McWilliams as a part of a four-run sixth inning.
Ouachita wraps up its current five-game homestand on Tuesday against Delta State. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
