ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita baseball team swept both games of Sunday's home double header against Missouri Southern to give the Tigers a 4-0 start to the 2026 season.
Final scores of the Tiger victories were 8-4 and 6-3. Ouachita now turns its attention to Great American Conference play, traveling to Durant, Oklahoma next weekend for a three-game series against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
In the first game on Sunday, the Tigers scored their eight runs on 12 hits, highlighted by four home runs.
David Bull and
Joseph Bolin each went deep in the bottom of the first inning.
Garrett Graham hit a solo blast to left field in the third.
Cole Bedwell hit a two-run shot to left in the fifth.
Cade Bowman accounted for the other Tiger run, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the fifth.
On the mound in game one freshman
Jarrett Waggoner shined in his collegiate debut, earning the win in relief after holding the Lions scoreless on just two hits in 3.1 innings of work.
Andrew Hayden came on in the fifth and went on to earn a 2.2 inning save.
In game two, the Tigers jumped out early with three runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by an RBI double by Bolin. The Lions chipped away and made it a one-run game in the fifth, but a two-run, no doubter homerun to left center by Bull in the bottom of the frame but the Tigers back up by three. Bowman collected his second RBI single of the double header in the sixth inning to put the Tigers up by the final score of 6-3. Bowman also made diving catch in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded to preserve the win.
Braden Tucker earned the win in game two with 5.2 quality innings.
Austin Bagnall earned a four-out save and had the help of Bowman's catch to work out of a jam in the seventh.
