MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Ouachita baseball team fell to Christian Brothers 11-5 on Wednesday afternoon in Memphis after a late push by the Buccaneers broke open a close game.
Ouachita struck first, plating a run in the opening inning, but CBU answered with three runs in the second and added another in the third to take a 4-1 lead.
The Tigers chipped away throughout the middle innings, scoring once in the fourth before putting together their biggest rally in the fifth. Ouachita plated three runs in the frame to even the score at 5-5 and briefly seize momentum.
The Bucs responded immediately, scoring in the fifth and adding two more in the sixth to regain control. After a scoreless seventh, the Buccaneers put the game out of reach with a four-run eighth inning to extend the lead to 11-5.
Ouachita finished with 10 hits and drew six walks but left 12 runners on base, limiting their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. CBU tallied 17 hits on the day.
Ashton Ybarra led the Tigers offensively with a 3-for-5 performance at the, including two doubles.
Cade Bowman also went 3-for-5.
Jaren Ceasar went 2-for-3.
The Tigers return to Great American Conference play this weekend on the road against Arkansas Tech.
