MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Southern Arkansas completed a series sweep of the Ouachita softball team as the Tigers lost 14-0 and 9-2 in Saturday's doubleheader at Dawson Field.
The Tigers scattered just two hits in each game of the series. In Saturday's opener, Southern Arkansas erupted for 14 runs on 14 hits to secure a run-rule victory in five innings. Junior Emily Reed led the Tigers at the plate and finished 2-for-4 at the plate in the doubleheader.Â
Ouachita grabbed a brief lead in the second inning of the series finale. After Reed drew an eight-pitch walk, freshman Morgan Uher launched a two-run home run over the left field wall to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. The Muleriders responded with a five-spot to reclaim full control.Â
In the circle, senior Hannah Hunter allowed five runs in two appearances, while junior Karley Burrow gave up three runs in 1.1 innings. Sophomore Catie Amador started the finale and surrendered four runs in 1.1 innings. Two freshmen were stretched as Alaina Lyle allowed six runs in 3.2 innings, while Ryleigh Stinson allowed one run over 2.1 innings in relief.
