HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas – The Ouachita baseball team used a pair of second-inning home runs to take an early lead, but Arkansas Tech rallied in the late innings to beat the Tigers 6-3 on Thursday in the Great American Conference Tournament opening round.
Joseph Bolin started the scoring with his team-high 10th home run of the season with a solo shot to left in the top of the second. Later in the inning,
Raygan Yager went deep to right field for his second homer of the year.
After three perfect innings from starter
Chase Oberle, Tech struck for three runs in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.
The Tigers responded with three straight singles in the top of the fifth, including an RBI hit by
Garrett Graham, to tie the game at 3-3.
The Wonder Boys scratched single runs across in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, and held the Tigers hitless at the same time to earn the win and advance into the winner's bracket.
With the loss, the Tigers are now slotted for an elimination game at Majestic Park on Friday at 1 p.m. against either Northwestern Oklahoma State or Harding.
