LINDSEY, NACHTIGAL CAPTURE WINS AT GAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

SEARCY, Ark. – The Ouachita women's track and field team stacked two dozen podium performances and finished third overall at the Great American Conference Championships, hosted by Harding.

After finishing first in her preliminary heat, junior sprinter Belle Lindsey delivered the signature performance by winning the 100-meter hurdles with a record-breaking time of 14.02. Lindsey returned to the track later and placed third in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:00.48. Senior Addrienna Gray followed in fourth place at 1:04.17, while freshman Taegan Herrien added a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:06.26.

Junior sprinter Joey Babel won her preliminary heat of the 400 meter dash (54.22) before she placed fourth in the finals with a time of 54.95. Fellow junior Anna Woolsey added a pair of seventh-place finishes in the 200 meter dash (24.95) and the 400 meters (56.54). 

Sophomore Addi Durand finished third in the 800 meters run with a time of 2:13.93. She added a fifth-place finish in the 1500 meters run with a time of 4:39.07, while senior Elise Knight followed in sixth place at 4:39.67. 

In the field events, sophomore Ariana Neal claimed third place in the javelin with a throw of 39.73 meters (130 feet, 4 inches) on her third attempt. Sophomore Charley Stallings cleared 3.43 meters (11 feet, 3 inches) to take sixth in the pole vault. Junior Brenlee Leonard added an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.86 meters (42 feet, 2.25 inches). Freshman Zyron Brock placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.85 meters (38 feet, 10.5 inches), and added an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.39 meters (17 feet, 8 inches). 

Ouachita's distance crew delivered a late statement as senior Katelynn Nachtigal captured the 5,000 meters title in record-breaking fashion at 17:38.31. Earlier in the meet, she finished runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:33.18. Senior Allison Hylkema turned in a runner-up finish in the 10,000 meters at 37:13.56, and placed fourth in the 5,000 meters run at 17:48.92. The Tigers placed four runners inside the top 10 of the 10,000 meters and three more in the steeplechase, highlighting their depth across several distance events.

Six Tigers on the women's side earned All-GAC First-Team honors, headlined by Lindsey and Nachtigal with titles in their respective events. 14 more Tigers secured second-team recognition to cap a balanced championship performance for Ouachita.
