Softball Chosen Fifth In GAC Preseason Poll

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.- As they continue to prepare for the beginning of their season, head coach Mike McGhee and the Ouachita Lady Tigers softball team have received word that they were chosen to finish fifth in the Great American Conference Pre-season Poll. This news comes after their 21-25 finish during 2011, but this year the landscape is a little different as they look forward to the inaugural softball season in the Great American Conference.

Ouachita was chosen fifth, receiving a single third place vote, two fourth place votes, a fifth place vote and three sixth place votes.

There was actually a tie for first in the poll, with Arkansas-Monticello and Southeastern Oklahoma University sitting on top. East Central was picked to finish third in the conference followed by Arkansas Tech and Ouachita. Henderson State followed closely in sixth, while Southwestern Oklahoma University and Southern Arkansas were picked to finish seventh and eighth respectively.

Polls are voted on by the head coaches of every team participating in that particular sport. They were not allowed to vote for their own team.
