DURANT, Okla.- The Ouachita Lady Tigers (4-5), originally scheduled to participate in six games over the weekend, were only able to participate in three due to inclement weather. In their last two games of the South Central Shootout in Durant, the Lady Tigers were defeated by Emporia State and Northeastern State, both games occuring during the evening on Friday.
The Lady Tigers began their game against Northeastern State at 2 p.m. on Friday, with
Abbi Frakes on the mound. Frakes threw 1.1 innings before being pulled, as she couldn't slow the Northeastern offense. Northeastern scored a total of eight runs in the first two innings, ultimately winning the game for the Lady Riverhawks. Ouachita only posted one hit in the game, coming from
Alexis Johns. Cayce Coleman picked up the win for Northeastern, pitching all five innings of the game while recording seven strikeouts. She didn't give up a single run to the Lady Tigers in the game, clinching the 9-0 victory for the Lady Riverhawks.
Ouachita faced off against nationally-ranked Emporia State in the third game of the weekend. The game saw a 4 p.m. start time. Ouachita's
Rayn House was eventually credited with a loss, giving up seven runs and six runs, three of which were earned runs, in six innings on the mound. Ouachita's
Brianne Baley recorded a home run in the game, while
Sara Strassemeyer was the only other Lady Tiger to cross home plate. Lauren Sharp was credited with the win for Emporia, throwing all seven innings and only giving up two runs to the Lady Tigers. Stefanie Goodwin and Amanda Self both recorded doubles for the Hornets, while Goodwin also added a homerun. The Lady Tigers eventually fell by a score of 6-2.
Ouachita returns to action on Saturday, when they host Henderson State for a double-header beginning at 1 p.m.
