RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.- The Ouachita Lady Tigers (11-10, 5-5 GAC) softball team traveled to Russellville, Arkansas for a conference doublehader on Saturday. The Lady Tigers played a couple of close games with the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech (9-9, 5-5 GAC), splitting the two games. Ouachita took the first game by a final score of 5-2, before falling in the night cap by a score of 2-0.
In game 1,
Rayn House took the victory for the Lady Tigers, throwing all seven innings while only giving up four hits and two runs, both of which were earned.
Alexis Johns and
Jocelyn Jones both recorded two runs batted in for the Lady Tigers, contributing to four of the Lady Tigers five runs.
Brianne Baley was credited with the other RBI. Baley and
Bailey Sanders both finished the game with 2-of-3 performances from the plate. Rachel Keeton took the loss in the game for Arkansas Tech, giving up nine hits and five runs in seven innings of action. Siarra Gomez and Maurie Lewis recorded RBI's for the Golden Suns.
In the second game, the Lady Tigers fell to the Golden Suns by a score of 2-0, as
Abbi Frakes was credited with the loss. Frakes threw six innings, giving up eight hits and two runs, both of which were earned. Tech's Victoria Huie was credited with the victory, throwing all seven innings and holding the Lady Tigers to two hits in the game. Gomez and Lewis again accounted for both of Tech's RBI's.
Ouachita's Sunday games were cancelled due to inclement weather. They will return to action on Wednesday, when they host Texas A&M-International at 5 and 7 p.m.
