ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The Ouachita Lady Tigers hosted the Cotton Blossoms of the University Arkansas-Monticello this weekend for a conference series. On day one of the action, the Lady Tigers came close in both games, but were just unable to capture a win against the Cotton Blossoms, who currently sit in second place in the Great American Conference Standings.
In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, the Lady Tigers dropped an extra inning battle to the Cotton Blossoms.
Rayn House took the loss despite only giving up three runs and recording six strikeouts during her eight innings on the mound.

Sara Strassemeyer all posted 2-of-4 performances from the plate, including an RBI from Strassemeyer. House recorded the only other RBI for Ouachita, coming on a sixth inning solo shot over the fence in left center. For the Cotton Blossoms, Brittany Eitel knocked in two runs on a 2-of-4 performance, while Summer Huddleston recorded the other RBI for Monticello. Ouachita fell to 4-11 in conference play with the loss, while the Cotton Blossoms moved to 9-2 in the GAC.
In the second game of the day, the Lady Tigers suffered a 1-0 loss due to a solo shot from the bat of Taylor Russell. Ouachita's
Abbi Frakes was credited with the loss, despite pitching a complete game and only giving up one run while recording seven strikeouts. The Lady Tigers recorded six hits in the game, but couldn't string them together to force anyone across home plate, eventually resulting in the loss. Katie Slaughter took the victory for Arkansas-Monticello, pitching a complete game shutout and only giving up six hits.
Ouachita looks to rebound on Sunday, when they face off with the Cotton Blossoms for another doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Sully Anderson Field.
