MONTICELLO, Ark.- The Ouachita Tigers (18-17, 6-6 GAC) clinched a conference series sweep after Sunday's 12-4 victory over GAC foe Arkansas-Monticello. The Tigers grabbed the lead early and never let up after posting three runs in the first two innings of play.
Ouachita's Josh Everett captured the victory with his seven inning performance, holding the Boll Weevils to four runs on five hits in the game. Everett recorded seven strikeouts during the game while only allowing three walks. Tom Ward, Keegan Ghidotti and Parker Norris all posted solid numbers, including three RBI's for each of them. Five players finished with multi-hit games for the Tigers, including 3-of-4 performances from Ghidotti and Ward and 2-of-4 performances from Norris, Landon Flax and Duncan Collins.
Zac Treece came in to relieve Everett, pitching two innings and recording two strikeouts for the Tigers. Ouachita finished the game with a total of 14 hits, wrapping up a strong offensive showing during their weekend series with the Boll Weevils.
UAM's Chris Guzman was credited with the loss after giving up four runs and seven hits during his four innings on the mound. Hunter Allday finished the day with two RBI's during a 2-of-5 performance from the plate.
Ouachita returns to action on Friday, April 6, when they host Harding University for a conference doubleheader beginning at noon at Rab Rodgers Field.
