Lady Tigers Drop Both Games on Second Day of Weekend Series with UAM

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The Ouachita Lady Tigers softball team (14-23, 4-14 GAC) hosted the back half of a four game weekend series on Sunday, as the Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms (23-10, 12-2 GAC) came to Sully Anderson Field after sweeping Saturday's games. The Lady Tigers continued to have offensive struggles, only scoring a single run between the two games on Sunday, and ended up dropping both games.

In the first game of Sunday's doubleheader, the Lady Tigers dropped an 8-1 decision to the Cotton Blossoms, falling to 4-13 in conference play. Rayn House fell to 8-9 on the season, throwing a complete game and giving up eight runs on nine hits. Jocelyn Jones and Rebekah Dindak both finished with 2-of-3 performances from the plate, while House recorded the only RBI for Ouachita. Monticello jumped out early, scoring two runs in the top of the first, and never looked back. Kayla Jackson recorded the win for the Cotton Blossoms, throwing the full seven innings and only giving up a single run on six hits. Jackson contributed to her own cause on offense as well, finishing 3-of-4 and recording two RBI's.

Ouachita looked to steal the last game of the series from the Cotton Blossoms after dropping the first three in Sunday's nightcap game. Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers were unable to get anyone across home plate and ended up falling by a final score of 4-0. Katie Slaughter took the victory for the Cotton Blossoms, while Abbi Frakes took the loss for the Lady Tigers. Frakes pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on nine hits while recording seven strikeouts.

Ouachita returns to action on Wednesday, when they host NCAA Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
