Tigers Continue Late Season Momentum, Take Doubleheader From East Central

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Ada, Okla.- The Ouachita Tigers (22-19, 9-8 GAC) continued to improve their overall record and their standing in the Great American Conference with a sweep of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers of East Central University (23-18, 7-9 GAC). Ouachita captured the first game by a score of 6-2, before sealing a 5-1 victory in the second game of the afternoon.

Ouachita's Josh Everett took the victory in the first game, throwing seven innings and only giving up three hits and two runs. Everett posted four strikeouts in the game, en route to his fourth victory of the 2012 season. Brock Green and McCrae Jones both recorded two runs batted in during the game, while Tom Ward and Landon Flax both added an RBI. Ward finished 3-of-5 from the plate, while Keegan Ghidotti finished the game with three runs scored in a 1-of-2 performance. Robert Buitrago took the loss for East Central after throwing two innings and giving up one hit and four runs, only one of which was earned.

In game two of the afternoon, Davis Ward proved to be the victor for Ouachita. Ward threw a complete game, giving up five hits and a single run while racking up four strikeouts. Green continued his strong performance, finishing 3-of-3 from the plate. Jones finished with two more RBI's, with Green finishing with a RBI of his own. Jacob Gammons took the loss for East Central, throwing 6.1 innings and giving up 11 hits and five runs to Ouachita. Ouachita scored three runs in the top of the seventh, ultimately sealing the victory.

The tandem of Tigers continue their conference series tomorrow beginning at 12 p.m. in Ada, Oklahoma at Tiger Field.
