Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The Ouachita Tigers (24-21, 10-10 GAC) hosted the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University to kick off their conference weekend series on Saturday. The Tigers suffered a tough 11-3 loss in the first game of the doubleheader, but fired back in game two, snatching a 1-0 victory behind the arm of 
Davis Ward.
Ryan Westover had a tough outing to start the day, taking the loss in game one. Westover went six innings deep, giving up nine hits and six runs. The Tigers didn't see many bright spots in the game, but the performance of 
Parker Norris was solid. Norris finished the game with a 2-of-3 performance from the plate, including a home run over the right field wall. Doug Shields took the victory for Southern Arkansas, putting in nine innings of work and only giving up seven hits and three runs, only one of which was earned.
In game two, the Tigers rode the shoulders of their pitcher. 
Davis Ward picked up a complete game shutout victory in the game, going seven innings deep and only giving up four hits in the game while recording two strikeouts. The Tigers bats continued to struggle against the Muleriders pitchers, but 
Keegan Ghidotti's single to right field, knocking in 
Clayton Brandt, proved to be the difference in the game. James Baune took his first loss of the year, falling to 6-1 despite throwing a solid 4.2 innings for Southern Arkansas.
Ouachita returns to action on Sunday, when they play their last home game of the 2012 season. Senior day festivities will take place before the game. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
