Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- Hosting their last home game of the season, the Ouachita Tigers (24-22, 10-11 GAC) posted a late game rally, but ended up falling short and falling to the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas (28-14, 14-7 GAC). The Tigers scored three runs in the eighth inning, but Southern Arkansas answered with a run of their own in the top of the ninth inning, sealing an 8-6 victory.'
Ouachita's
Josh Everett took the loss for the Tigers, throwing 5.1 innings and giving up seven hits and seven runs, only three of which were earned.
Zac Treece came in to relieve Everett, throwing 3.2 innings and holding Southern Arkansas to four hits and a single run, but his efforts fell short.
Tom Ward had a stellar showing, finishing the game with a 2-of-3 performance from the plate, racking up three runs batted in and a walk as well.
Clayton Brandt posted a 2-of-3 performance as well for the Tigers, while
Duncan Collins finished the game 2-of-4, including an RBI double in the third inning to kick off a three run inning for Ouachita. Two of Ward's RBI's came in the eighth, when he slammed a two run shot over the right field wall.
Janson Carr took the win for Southern Arkansas after coming in and throwing 5 innings of relief pitching and only giving up two runs.
Ouachita travels to Magnolia on Wednesday for another match-up with the Muleriders, this time it won't count as a conference game though. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
