Softball Drops Tough Pair of Games to Open Southeastern Regional Invitational

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
DURANT, Okla.- Matching up with two premier teams in Division II softball proved to make for a tough Friday afternoon at the Southeastern Regional Invitational for the Ouachita Lady Tigers (2-4). The Lady Tigers kicked Friday's action off against Missouri Southern State, who they held a 2-0 lead on as the top of the sixth began. Missouri Southern wouldn't be outdone though, putting up 10 runs in two innings and taking a 10-2 win. In the second game of the afternoon, the Lady Tigers saw a much lower scoring affair, in a 2-0 loss to Lincoln University (Mo.).

Abbi Frakes threw 5.1 innings against Missouri Southern, recording four strikeouts and only giving up two earned runs. The only RBI of the game came from Kailey Madden, who recorded a double in the third inning that scored Megan Askew. The Lady Tigers struggled against Missouri Southern's pitching though, as Haley Kinnison took the win for the Lady Lions, throwing a complete game and only giving up one earned run.

In the Lady Tigers' second game of the afternoon, an early two runs from Lincoln University proved to be the difference, as Ouachita was unable to get any runs on the board. Lincoln notched eight hits to Ouachita's four and rallied behind a complete game shutout from Clair Lorenz, who recorded six strikeouts in the game.

The Lady Tigers return to action on Saturday, although the competition doesn't get much easier. They will begin their day at 10 a.m., when they face off with Northeastern State University (Okla.), before taking on the University of Central Missouri at 4 p.m.
