ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The second day of action between the Ouachita Lady Tigers and the Lady Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State was no different than the first, with the Lady Tigers converting on a series sweep with an extra inning 3-2 win, which they followed with a 1-0 win.
The Lady Tigers (13-23, 7-13 GAC) used a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie their first game up at two, before going on to win the game in extra innings.
Rebekah Dindak homered in the third inning, scoring the first run of the afternoon for either team. Southwestern (12-26, 6-16 GAC) bounced back in the top of the fourth though, scoring two runs on a single and a double and taking the lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Tigers tied the game with an RBI double from
Kailey Madden, who finished the game 2-of-4 from the plate and notched an RBI and a run scored. Madden's hit scored
Parrish Reed, forcing extra innings after neither team scored in the seventh.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Lady Tigers finished things off, as
Teresa Mursuli grounded a pitch into a fielder's choice play, scoring Madden and winning the game in walk-off fashion.
Abbi Frakes was the win, throwing 6.1 innings and recording five strikeouts.
In their second game of the afternoon, the teams found themselves in a stalemate until the bottom of the fifth, when the Lady Tigers finally got on the board.
Ouachita scored when Reed stole home plate, giving the team a 1-0 lead late in the contest.
Shelby McWhorter, who started the game on the mound and went all seven innings, held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless in the sixth before heading into the final inning of play.
In the seventh, McWhorter forced a groundout to shortstop, followed by a single for Southwestern. A pair of groundouts followed Southwestern's single though, allowing the Lady Tigers to walk away victorious.
The Lady Tigers converted on their first conference series sweep of the year over Southwestern, winning all four games of the series. The Lady Tigers return to action on Monday, when they host Midwestern State in non-conference action.
First pitch against Midwestern is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Sully Anderson Field in Arkadelphia.
