ALVA, Okla.- The second day of play between the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State and the Lady Tigers of Ouachita Baptist was very similar to the first, with both teams claiming a win over the course of the afternoon. The Lady Tigers dropped the first contest by a score of 6-2, before bouncing back with a 4-3 win.
 
Northwestern jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. The Lady Tigers came out in the fourth though and cut the lead to just one run, when Teresa Mursuli recorded an RBI single that scored Kailey Madden.
 
Northwestern answered with a huge offensive burst over the course of the fourth and fifth innings, scoring two runs in each and giving themselves a 6-1 advantage.
 
Ouachita tried to answer with a seventh inning rally, but the Lady Tigers were only able to come up with one run and ended up falling by a 6-2 final.
 
Mursuli and Breanne Baley both finished with an RBI, with Madden and Bailey Sanders both recording hits and runs scored.
 
The second game of the afternoon was a closer, and lower scoring bout, with Ouachita claiming a 4-3 victory to finish out the series.
 
Ouachita found two runs in the third inning of play, one of which was given up an error and another coming on a sacrifice fly. They held a 2-0 advantage at the conclusion of the inning, with Northwestern scrambling to answer.
 
The Rangers finally got themselves on the board in the fourth inning, with an unearned run that cut the Lady Tiger lead to just one run.
 
An error by Northwestern in the fifth inning allowed Ouachita another pair of runs, giving them a 4-1 lead entering the bottom half of the inning.
 
Northwestern got the pair of runs back in the sixth, cutting the lead to just a single run, but that was the closest they would get, as the Lady Tigers capped off the series split with a victory.
 
The Lady Tigers will be in Durant, Oklahoma next weekend, as they face off with the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State beginning on Friday, April 12. Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
