Tigers Take Two Of Three Over Twelfth Ranked Central Missouri

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers split a doubleheader with #12 Central Missouri Sunday at Rab Rogers Field. The Tigers took game one 2-1 and central Missouri won game two 4-1. The Tigers won the weekend series 2-1 over the 12th-ranked Mules.

Starting Pitcher Luis De Jesus (1-0) picked up the win, going six innings and allowing only three hits and the one run. He walked three and struck out two.  More importantly, he kept the ball in the infield forcing nine groundouts.

All scoring happened in the third inning. Central Missouri scored their lone run with two outs in the top half of the third. Central Missouri's Brad Wilson doubled to score Trevor Jones.

The Tigers responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning when centerfielder Landon Moore led off with a double and third baseman Parker Norris drove him in with a single, advancing to second on the throw home.. Second baseman Tyler Faught advanced Norris to the third with the sacrifice bunt and catcher Chris Tavares brought him home with a sacrifice fly to center.

De Jesus held the Mules hitless over the next three innings and Keegan Ghidotti pitched the seventh to pick up the save.

Game two was a pitchers dual. Tigers' starter Craig Daniell allowed only three hits and one run over six innings. He struck out seven and walked one. Catcher Matt Sinclair drove in the Tigers loan run in the second inning when his single to right center drove in first baseman will Wallace.

Central Missouri hit a solo homerun down the right field line in the top of the sixth to tie it 1-1. Both teams were held scoreless until the top of the tenth inning when the Mules scored three. Zach Davis took the win for Central Missouri and closer Kyle Matusoff took the loss.

The Tigers were scheduled to play Southern Arkansas this Tuesday at home, but the game has been rescheduled for March 18. The Tigers open GAC play this Friday at Rab Rodgers Field against East Central University. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 2:00 pm.
